Presidential aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, has asserted that the political mood in Ghana is shifting, with citizens increasingly calling for leadership that prioritises ideas, solutions and national progress.
Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile programme on Saturday, January 17, Dr Adutwum said voters are no longer satisfied with politics dominated by rhetoric but are instead seeking governance that directly improves their daily lives.
He explained that Ghanaians now expect leaders to demonstrate competence, clarity of purpose and the ability to deliver measurable results.
According to him, the future of Ghana’s democracy depends on a people-centred approach to leadership—one that places problem-solving and accountability at the heart of governance.
Dr Adutwum further emphasised that effective leadership must be grounded in vision and a deep understanding of policy, innovation and public administration, especially as the country confronts evolving social and economic challenges.
He noted that Ghana’s next stage of development will require leaders who can move beyond slogans and champion ideas capable of transforming communities and strengthening national institutions.
The NPP flagbearership hopeful said his decision to enter the race is driven by his conviction that the country needs forward-thinking leadership that can respond not only to present demands but also future aspirations.
He added that interactions with party members and the general public have confirmed his belief that many Ghanaians are ready for a renewed political culture—one anchored in development, unity and responsible leadership.
