Rainbowradioonline.com has gathered that the Accra Metropolitan Assembly would have its first female Mayor.
Per our checks, banker, economist, and a former MP for Okaikwei North Elizabeth K. Sackey would be appointed the new Mayor for Accra barring any last-minute changes.
The experienced politician according, to our sources, is the favourite in the list of the current Mayor Mohammed Adjei Sowah and former MP for Odododiodoo constituency Niibi Ayibontey.
She has been described as an efficient and tactical politician by her admirers.
Some NPP personalities who spoke about her appointment say she would succeed as the Mayor if appointed because of her no-nonsense character.
Sackey is a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
She was first elected into the parliament of Ghana to represent the Okaikwei North constituency in January 2005.
She represented the constituency again in the 5th parliament of Ghana following her re-election in December 2008.
She also contested and won the 2012 December polls on the ticket of the elephant family.
Prior to becoming a Member of Parliament, Sackey worked as a Chief Clerk at Ghana Commercial Bank.
She is married with four children. She is a Christian who worships at the Church of Pentecost.
