Minority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has thrown his weight behind Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, describing the former Vice President as the New Patriotic Party’s most formidable and electable figure as the party looks ahead to the 2028 general election.

Addressing party supporters during Dr Bawumia’s re-election campaign activities in the Ashanti Region, Annoh-Dompreh strongly rejected claims that the ongoing internal contest is driven by regional loyalty or personal ambition. According to him, the stakes are far higher than individual interests.

He cautioned party members against framing the contest around personalities such as Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum or Kwabena Agyapong, stressing that the real focus should be on selecting a leader capable of returning the NPP to power.

“Adutwum is from the Ashanti Region. Let’s tell Adu Twum that this fight is not his fight. This is not Kwabena Agyapong’s fight; this fight is for Bawumia,” he asserted.

Annoh-Dompreh urged the party to rally behind a candidate who offers the strongest electoral advantage, insisting that unity and strategic decision-making are critical as the NPP reorganises after the 2024 elections.

In a firm endorsement, he declared that Dr Bawumia stands out among all contenders in terms of credibility, national appeal, and electoral strength.

“Let it be put on record, without ambiguity or apology, that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is the strongest, most credible, and most electable leader to lead the NPP to victory and secure the future of this party,” he stated.

Dr Bawumia, who led the NPP as its 2024 presidential candidate, is seeking to retain leadership of the party as it positions itself for the next electoral cycle.

The NPP is scheduled to elect its flagbearer on January 31, 2026, a decision expected to shape the party’s strategy and fortunes ahead of the 2028 general election.
