Executives of a kumasi-based pressure group called “Asanteman Nkosuo, NPP Mpuntuo” have fired another missile against the rank and file of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
They have cautioned the leadership of the party to halt the attitude of always shunning the grassroot anytime the latter calls on them for assistance after elections.
According to the group, the leadership of the NPP per their usual idiosyncrasies are always in good tune with the grassroot during electioneering periods, however when elections are over, they relegate to the background the welfare of the grassroot who fought tirelessly for the victory of the party.
They described the above as the reason why the party lost so many seats in the December 2020 elections.
“This happened because the grassroot felt their services were not considered necessary which in a way undermined their campaigning efforts”, they noted.
Chairman for the group who doubles as the founder of “Nana Pepeye Kuo”, Dr. Mohammed Issah Ababio set the record straight in an exclusive interview with www.leakynews.net on the sidelines of a swearing-in ceremony of fresher students at the University of Education, Mampong Campus on Sunday, June 20, 2021.
He noted that welcoming the grassroot and involving them in the day to day activities of the party, insofar giving them the necessary logistical support increases their optimism for effective delivery.
“Our party leaders remember party faithful and grassroot only when it is time for election. You Dump us after every election,” he said.
“We are pleading to our leaders to desist from this act. If this is heeded, the star will surely be our limit. We want to appeal to all leaders to listen to our concerns and grievances as party grassroots and provide us with the right tools and materials that will enable us to carry out our task to the fullest,” he added.
Event
At the event, a platform was offered for interested students to join TESCON (Tertiary Students Confederacy);a student wing of the New Patriotic Party(NPP).
Dr. Mohammed Issah Ababio acknowledged the administration of the New Patriotic Party from the time of the former President, John Agyekum Kufuor to that of president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo.
He indicated that though the incumbent government is much more competent than the former (National Democratic Congress), hard work is still required from the NPP if the leadership wants to govern for many years.
He enlightened that the NPP still has a lot to offer vis-à-vis transforming Ghana.
He reiterated that “we are not enemies to the party but our main aim is to fight for the interest of all the grassroots and to also support the NPP party at all times.”
