Former Ayensuano MP Samuel Ayeh-Paye believes the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer primaries will deliver a clear and commanding victory for former Agriculture Minister Bryan Acheampong. The primaries, set for January 31, 2026, he says, are already tilting heavily in Acheampong’s favour.
He explained that his interactions across constituencies show a growing wave of confidence in the Abetifi MP, driven largely by his track record in job creation and his ability to attract investment. For many delegates and grassroots supporters, Ayeh-Paye noted, these qualities position Acheampong as a strong contender for the NPP’s 2028 presidential ticket.
Ayeh-Paye argued that the country’s unemployment challenges are not due to a lack of willingness among young people but rather a shortage of opportunities — something he believes Acheampong has demonstrated an unusual capacity to address even outside public office.
“People want a leader who can open doors for them. Bryan has shown that he can create jobs and attract investors, and that is resonating strongly with the youth,” he said during an appearance on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily. “That is why many of us are rallying behind him.”
The former MP added that internal consultations with delegates have revealed a solid backing for Acheampong, describing the field as one in which his candidate holds a “firm lead” ahead of the primaries. According to him, the level of enthusiasm and support signals a “one-touch win” on voting day.
In the meantime, former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who is also seeking the NPP flagbearership, has intensified his outreach. Addressing delegates in Sene East, he appealed for their support by pointing to his years of loyalty, service, and dedication to the party as he positions himself for the 2028 presidential race.
