AdubianewsBryan Acheampong, the Member of Parliament for Abetifi and former Minister for Food and Agriculture, is preparing to contest the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer position ahead of the 2028 general elections. This was confirmed by Mpraeso MP, Davis Ansah Opoku, during an interview with Channel One TV.
Mr. Opoku revealed that while an official announcement has not yet been made, Dr. Acheampong has firmly decided to enter the NPP flagbearer race once the party opens nominations. “I think that the committee is finalising its report, but I can confidently tell you that he is determined to contest, and very soon the Ghanaian people will hear from him,” he stated.
The Mpraeso legislator praised Dr. Acheampong’s leadership qualities, calling him a strategic thinker with a clear vision for Ghana’s future. According to him, Dr. Acheampong has demonstrated a strong commitment to national development and party unity over the years.
“Bryan Acheampong possesses what it takes to move Ghana forward, and he’s got the ability to marshal resources in terms of the human capital needed to move Ghana forward,” Mr. Opoku added.
He further noted that the team around Dr. Acheampong is working to communicate his leadership vision to Ghanaians and, more importantly, to NPP delegates ahead of the party’s internal contest. He expressed confidence that Dr. Acheampong’s experience, vision, and dedication will position him as a strong contender in the race to lead the NPP into the 2028 elections.
Dr. Bryan Acheampong’s anticipated bid adds to the list of potential candidates expected to vie for the NPP flagbearership, as the party looks toward selecting a leader capable of building on its legacy and contesting the next general elections.
