Bukom Banku Slams Okatakyie Afrifa Over Remarks About Sharaf Mahama’s Wealth

Ghanaian boxer and entertainer Braimah Kamoko, popularly known as Bukom Banku, has strongly responded to Okatakyie Afrifa’s recent criticism of Sharaf Mahama, son of former President John Dramani Mahama.

Afrifa had questioned the financial backing behind the ‘Battle of the Beasts’ boxing event, which Sharaf spearheaded and hosted at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra.

The event, which featured British-Nigerian boxing star Anthony Joshua and drew legendary figures like Azumah Nelson, has been hailed as a major boost for sports promotion in Ghana.

However, Afrifa stirred controversy by claiming that Sharaf, who he says has never held formal employment, should be scrutinized for how he was able to fund such a high-profile event.

Bukom Banku came to Sharaf’s defense, stating that the event was privately funded and had nothing to do with state resources. He emphasized that Sharaf’s family is wealthy and capable of sponsoring such activities without relying on public funds. He further cautioned Afrifa to watch his utterances or risk legal consequences in the future.

The boxer’s comments add to growing support from Ghana’s sporting community, with other personalities like Saddick Adams and Ayittey Powers also rallying behind Sharaf Mahama against what they describe as unfair political attacks.
