Bernard Antwi Boasiako, widely known as Chairman Wontumi and the former Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is expected to appear before the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Accra today, May 26, 2025.
This follows a formal invitation served to him in Kumasi on Monday, May 19, 2025, in connection with ongoing investigations into the Akonta mining issue.
His aide, Oheneba Nana Asiedu, confirmed the development during an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem.
“On Monday, we received a letter at Wontumi Radio in Kumasi for Chairman to appear for questioning as part of investigations into the Akonta mining issue. He assured that he will honour the invitation on Monday, May 26, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. because the letter was served in Kumasi, but he has been asked to come to Accra,” he stated.
Chairman Wontumi is expected to report to the CID headquarters at the specified time toassist with the inquiry
