AdubianewsThe Accra High Court has reportedly dismissed a plea made by the Ghanaian comic actor Kwadwo Nkansah Lilwin to halt the GHc 5 million defamation lawsuit against him.
It would be vividly recalled that the Kumawood star was sued by the popular Ghanaian actress Martha Ankomah following a controversial statement he made against her in an interview.
According to the actor, the likes of Martha Ankomah mostly look down on Kumawood actors; hence, they have refused to work with them on various projects, apparently as a result of what she considered to be “poor storylines.”
He also stated that the actress’s success in the Ghanaian movie is purely as a result of her connections to some stakeholders in the industry and not her talent.
He was slapped with a defamation lawsuit by the actress, and in reaction, he posted a video of NDC Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia’s famous remark, “Every idiot can go to court,” in response to the lawsuit, Lilwin seemed to make fun of the legal system and imply that being sued did not necessarily mean guilt.
Since then, discussions concerning professionalism and respect for one another in the Ghanaian film business have been sparked by the case’s broad publicity.
has recently requested that the case be halted. However, the High Court rejected the request and slapped him with a GH¢5,000 cost. The case is scheduled to move forward in Accra.
