Eastern Region records 15 new COVID-19 cases

The Eastern region has recorded 15 more COVID-19 cases bringing the total number of cases in the region to 16.

A document sited and authorized by Dr. Mrs Alberta Biritwum-Nyarko the regional Director of health services, her deputy Dr. Albert Antobre-Boateng and Richard Essien said the 15 additional cases were among the 244 quarantined workers of  AFCON Construction Company in Lower Manya Krobo where an Indian expat working on Tema to Akosombo railway project tested Positive on March 31, 2020.

All 15 persons who have tested positive have been quarantined.

The new confirmed cases are among the 65 new cases announced by President Akufo Addo last night during his 6th Adress to the nation on government measures to contain the pandemic. Currently, the national figure in Ghana stands at 378.

The document also said the number of cases have been reported from New Juaben South, Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Ayensuano, Atiwa West, Suhum, and Lower Manya Krobo have been submitted to the Nungochi memorial Institute for Medical Research confirmation.
