Diella TekuThe Electoral Commission (EC) is taking immediate action to resolve a shortage of Presidential and Parliamentary ballot papers affecting the Keta, Ketu North, Ho Central, Hohoe, and Ho West constituencies in the Volta Region. This proactive measure underscores the Commission’s dedication to ensuring a seamless and credible electoral process ahead of the 2024 polls.
In a letter addressed to the representatives of all presidential candidates, the EC disclosed the shortfall and detailed its resolution plan. Additional ballot papers will be printed at Acts Commercials, a move designed to mitigate any disruptions during voting. To reinforce transparency, the Commission has invited political parties and independent presidential candidates to appoint two representatives each to monitor the printing process.
The observation exercise is slated for Friday, November 29, 2024, at 10:00 am, at the Acts Commercials Printing House in Accra. This step aligns with the EC’s commitment to openness and stakeholder engagement throughout the electoral process.
Speaking on the development, Samuel Tettey, the EC’s Deputy Chairman of Operations, assured voters that the Commission remains steadfast in its mission to uphold the integrity of the elections. “We are working around the clock to address this issue promptly and guarantee a fair and transparent election,” he stated.
The EC’s swift intervention and emphasis on collaboration with political stakeholders highlight its readiness to navigate challenges and maintain public confidence as Ghana prepares for its critical election day.
