The Managing Editor of New Crusading Guide has apprise the Electoral Commission to shelve the idea of compiling a new register for the 2020 general elections.
According to Kweku Baako, the EC must find new ways of updating the old register instead of compiling a new one in the wake of the novel Coronavirus pandemic.
The ace newspaper editor made this comment speaking on the ‘Good Morning Ghana'(GMG) show hosted by Dr Randy Abbey on Accra-based Metro TV.
‘As a realist, I think the EC must shelve the decision to compile a new register for the 2020 general election’ he argued.
He also explained that this is not normal times for the EC to go ahead with the compilation of a new register in wake of the outbreak of the Coronavirus and the measures being taken by the government to contain the spread of the deadly COVID -19 in the country.
‘I was initially tilted towards the compilation of the new register with technology but in these times, I think is not appropriate’ he said
he EC boss is a very friend, but he has not spoken with her to solicit her views on the current trends on the earlier decision to compile a new register.
I need to speak with her to see her views on what can be done.
