Xandy Kamel discusses Fast TV CEO arrest over pirated movie

Ghanaian actress Xandy Kamel has confirmed that the CEO of local television station Fast TV has been arrested, with the assistance of the Ghana Copyright Office, for allegedly airing her newly released movie without permission.

This revelation follows a viral video circulating online in which Kamel expressed her frustration after learning that Fast TV had broadcast her movie without her consent, just two days after she uploaded it to her personal YouTube channel.

She noted that she had invested significant resources into the film and was shocked to see it aired so soon without any agreement in place. “I just uploaded it to my YouTube channel two days ago, and now it’s being shown on TV?” she said.

Calling for stronger protections for Ghanaian creatives, Kamel appealed to the National Film Authority to step in and address the growing issue of media piracy in the country.

“This is a project I poured my money and energy into,” she stressed, urging authorities to ensure that filmmakers are safeguarded from such violations.
