One person is feared dead and several others are injured following a serious collision between a speeding STC van and a tricycle near the Fidelity Bank stretch in Ho on Monday night.
The crash, which occurred around 9:30 PM, has left residents in shock. Eyewitnesses say the STC van, reportedly traveling at high speed from the Accra direction, slammed forcefully into the tricycle.
The impact was devastating; one victim was seen lying in a pool of blood with severe head injuries and exposed brain matter, sparking fears of instant fatality.
Emergency responders arrived quickly at the scene and rushed the injured to the Ho Teaching Hospital for urgent medical care.
One passenger aboard the van, Apostle Prosper Agbeti, blamed the accident on the driver’s reckless behavior. “The driver was making and receiving calls throughout the journey while speeding,” he claimed.
Apostle Agbeti also dismissed speculation from bystanders that brake failure may have caused the crash.
“This was total negligence,” he stated firmly.
Several passengers sustained varying degrees of injury, including deep cuts and possible fractures. All have been admitted for further medical examination and treatment.
