FrimpongChairperson of the Ghana Women’s League Board Madam Hillary Boateng has praised the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) for their committment in Women Football development
Madam Boateng eulogised the leadership of the World Football Governing body for specifically allocating funds towards the growth of the women’s game across the world.
“FIFA has done wonderfully well, and deserves commendations, they have demonstrated that Women Football Agenda is high on their priority list by distributing specific amount of money for women Football” she Told Adom FM’s Alex Kobina Stonne.
FIFA as part of their COVID-19 relief Plan allocated $500,000 to each of their 211 member Associations.
The funds according to FIFA is for specific development projects for Women Football, and to also alleviate the hardship women Football and Footballers have suffered in the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The funds from FIFA should be distributed to all the various clubs playing in the different leagues, and National teams under the Ghana Football Association, I believe the FA will consult all the relevant stakeholders in the distribution of the COVID-19 relief Money” she said.
Madam Hillary Boateng, who heads the Ghanaian female leagues acknowledged the decision of CAF to introduce an interclub competition for women to replace the African Women’s cup of Nations.
“The decision to play an inter club competition by female clubs in Africa is welcoming, its been on the radar for a while, and we applaud CAF for taking this bold decision to implement such a laudable initiative”.
At its last executive committee meeting, CAF has introduced a CAF Champions league for women to begin in 2021, the tournament will replace the existing AWCON tournament which has been in place over the last 30 years.
