The Forestry Commission has strongly denied allegations of document falsification levelled against its Acting Chief Executive, Dr Hugh C.A. Brown, describing the claims as misleading and unfounded.

The allegations, which surfaced during a broadcast of The Evidence, a program aired on Ohia TV Online on Thursday, 10 July 2025, were made by Mr Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC.

In the program, Abronye DC alleged that Dr Brown had falsified and signed certain letters in his capacity as Acting Chief Executive at a time when he had not yet assumed that position.

In a rejoinder dated Monday, 14 July 2025, the Forestry Commission clarified that the letters in question — two dated 16 May 2024 and one dated 11 June 2024 — were indeed signed and dispatched by Dr Brown.

However, the Commission explained that a clerical error led to the year being incorrectly typed as 2024 instead of 2025.

According to the Commission, the letters, which were addressed to the Ag. Executive Director of the Forest Services Division and copied to the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, were scanned, archived, and dispatched as per standard practice. Shortly after dispatch, the error was detected, and immediate steps were taken to correct it.

“The letters with the erroneous dates were in each case immediately retrieved and the mistake rectified, with the corrected letters bearing the year 2025,” the statement read. “The corrected letters were then dispatched, and copies were saved electronically and manually filed as well.”

The Forestry Commission emphasised that there was no attempt at falsification, stressing that the incident was simply a typographical error that was swiftly addressed in line with administrative procedures.

The Commission’s rejoinder aims to set the record straight and assure the public of its commitment to transparency and integrity in its operations.
