FrimpongChairman of Ghana’s 2023 Africa games committee Magnus Rex Danquah, has revealed that Ghana will stage the games in September 2023.
Ghana has stepped up preparations to host a successful 13th edition of the African Games in 2023, with the renovation and upgrading of sporting facilities across the country.
This will be the first time that the West African country will be hosting the tournament.
The 2023 All-Africa Games will also serve as qualifiers for the various disciplines for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.
Speaking exclusively to Starr Sports Magnus Rex Danquah said they settled on September as the month to host the multi-sport event after several consultations with the Ghana Meteorological service which has advised there will be no rains around that time .
“Because its 2023, we even engaged the Ghana Meteorological services to forecast the weather around 2023 for us to be able for us to determine the month that we can host the event so we don’t problems with the rain which they have done a fantastic job”
“ We have discussed with them and we have a fair idea as to when to host the event and September is the period that we are sure there will be no rain because what is the point if you bring 54 nations and everything is rained off , it means we would have wasted the money for nothing” he told Starr Sports .
