The Technical Director of Premier League side Karela United FC, Coach Mallam Yahaya has advised the leadership of the Ghana Football Association to cancel the 2019/20 league season since Corona virus pandemic has taken a lot of the time.
All Football activities in Ghana remained suspended until further notice, due to the Corona virus outbreak which has brought the world of sports to a halt.
In mid-march, the Government suspended all football related activities to minimize the spread of the Virus. However, restrictions were eased for some non-contact sports extending the ban on football till further notice.
In an exclusive interview with Ghanasportscaster.com , Mallam Yahaya wants the FA to abrogate the current campaign amidst COVID 19.
“COVID-19 has caused almost 70% damage to our football, three to four months without football is not easy”Due to the pandemic you can’t meet players neither can football activities be continued”
“It will also take time to have all structures put in place for football to resume here in Ghana”
“I’m 100% in support of the cancellation of the 2019/20 league season. Though everything depends on when we part ways with COVID-19 but looking up to this stage, why not we need to null the season”
“I was expecting His Excellency Nana Addo to ease restrictions for football to return but once we are in June, there is no hope football will restart now”, he former New Edubiase trainer told Ghanasportscenter.com
“In my opinion, lets cancel it and start a new season with CAF new calender”Its late already to continue the season”
Currently, Ghana has recorded 11,422 confimed cases, of which 304 are new cases and total number of 4,156 recoveries. Among which 51 are dead.
