AdubianewsGhana’s energy sector is witnessing a wave of optimism as Energy and Green Transition Minister John Jinapor commended the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST) for driving operational efficiency and strengthening energy logistics. Speaking during the Government Accountability Series on July 16, 2025, the minister attributed a series of recent improvements to the leadership at BOST.
“I’m beginning to see positive trends at BOST, and we are already working to ensure that we extend a pipeline from Ghana to Burkina Faso. This will position Ghana as the main hub for Burkina to lift petroleum products,” he said, underscoring the company’s strategic role in regional fuel supply.
Mr. Jinapor praised BOST’s Managing Director, Afetsi Awoonor, and his deputy for what he described as outstanding leadership and performance. “BOST is working very well to improve our strategic reserves, and I commend the Managing Director and his team for showing strong leadership and competence,” he noted.
Established in 1993, BOST plays a central role in Ghana’s energy infrastructure, managing fuel storage and transportation. Its performance directly impacts national energy security and cross-border trade, especially in the West African subregion.
The minister also reflected on broader developments in the energy sector over the past seven months, expressing satisfaction with progress made in three core areas. First, he highlighted the stabilisation of the power supply, describing it as a critical achievement. “We have worked tirelessly to ensure a consistent and reliable energy supply for all Ghanaians. This has been a critical undertaking, and we have made considerable progress,” he said.
Another key milestone is the improvement in petroleum reserves. Jinapor affirmed that government strategies to boost reserves are already delivering results. “We have increased our petroleum reserves, and the results are beginning to show. We remain committed to expanding these efforts,” he stated.
On governance, the minister emphasized a renewed push for transparency and integrity within the energy sector. “We have launched a comprehensive initiative to clean up the energy sector, tackle corruption, and promote transparency,” he remarked.
Closing his address, John Jinapor called for unity and commitment across the sector to sustain the momentum. “I am confident that we will continue to build on these achievements for a brighter energy future,” he concluded.
