Two women traders clash over space at Kejetia Market in Kumasi

Tensions flared at the busy Kejetia Market in Kumasi after two female traders got into a heated altercation over a coveted trading spot on the street. The confrontation, which quickly drew a crowd, disrupted activities in the area and highlighted the growing competition among traders for limited space in the bustling commercial hub.

Eyewitnesses say the disagreement escalated into a physical fight, with bystanders stepping in to separate the two women. The scuffle momentarily affected movement around the usually packed market, as pedestrians and customers paused to witness the drama.

The Kejetia Market area has long struggled with congestion and space management issues, with street traders often forced to battle for portions of pavement to sell their goods. Authorities have attempted to relocate or reorganize vendors, but enforcement remains a challenge.

This latest incident adds to growing concerns over market crowding and the need for a lasting solution that accommodates the livelihoods of traders without compromising order and safety.
