NPP flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has called on the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) to rethink its approach toward local businesses, describing current practices as “harsh and intimidating.”

Speaking during an outreach engagement in the Central Region, he expressed concern over how aggressive revenue collection tactics are impacting entrepreneurship and job creation.

According to Mr. Agyapong, the GRA’s posture makes many Ghanaian business owners feel like suspects rather than partners in national development.
He stated:
“The GRA should stop treating Ghanaian businessmen like criminals. People trying to build companies face too much frustration. How do we expect job creation when institutions scare business owners?”

He argued that such treatment discourages investment, slows business growth, and weakens efforts to create sustainable employment for Ghanaian youth.

Ken Agyapong also highlighted the wider challenges faced by local entrepreneurs, including high operational costs, regulatory barriers, and limited access to financing.

He urged government agencies to adopt business-friendly policies and ensure that revenue mobilisation does not stifle enterprises essential to Ghana’s economic progress.
