COVID-19: Ken Agyapong reveals why COVID-19 is killing more poor people than the rich 1

Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP), Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has revealed that the Coronavirus (COVID-19) disease is killing more poor people than the rich and affluent across the globe.

According to the MP, the disease is killing more poor people across the globe because of the seeming neglect of precautionary measures put in place by the various governments.

He said it is worthy of note that the rich and influential persons who get infected with the disease mostly survive because they are well taken care of while on admission.

“Have you noticed that COVID-19 is killing more poor people than rich people? See all the rich people that contracted the disease survived while the poor are dying in their numbers. Price Charles survived, Boris Johnson survived, Iddriss Elba, even the black basketball players are all surviving but the black poor people are dying in their numbers…,” he said.

The Legislator said that people like him who own several businesses would be given special treatment if he contracts the disease.

It is for this reason that the MP called on the poor and vulnerable in society to observe basic protocols on the disease so they don’t contract the disease.

“I know it is a painful truth but I must confess that when the two of us contract the disease, they will take better care of me than you because I take care of about 1000 workers…this is not to say I won’t die…,” he said.

Ken Agyapong further claimed that Blacks who contract the disease abroad are not well taken care of compared to the whites.

He said the likes of Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom (UK), Papa Owusu Ankomah who contracted the disease was ‘saved’ because of his position as Ghana’s foremost citizen in the UK.

“Papa Owusu Ankomah was saved because he is an Ambassador and it is government to government and not about the individual. They believe when he dies, it will be a disgrace to them…,” he said.
