Kick-backs in your government is making Ghana 'bleed' - Rashid Pelpuo to gov't 51

Member of Parliament(MP) for Wa Central, Hon. Rashid Pelpuo has accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government of getting it all wrong in the management of Ghana’s economy and that spells doom.

According to him, Ghana is now synonymous to borrowing although the NPP government promised Ghanaians in the run-up to 2016 elections that the country has money and therefore it was going to cut borrowing when given the nod.

He noted that apart from borrowing some minions in the government are known for taking kickbacks and handing over projects to people who are not competent enough to handle just because of their parochial interest.

The lawmaker who made this argument in a series of tweets noted that these kickbacks are taken from foreign companies hence stifling the growth of local industries in the country to advantage expatriate industries.

“What kind of economic transformation will take place when all u do is borrowing, stifle local industry, whiles your boys front to take kickbacks? Ghana is bleeding.”

Taking note of how Ghana is bleeding, the former Minister of Youth and Sports said what Ghana needs now is “propping up investment & mobilizing revenue from taxes. It’s about job creation and well-tailored spending”.

“Ofori Atta and Bawumia you’re getting it all wrong! The Economy is not borrowing, borrowing and taking cuts on contracts. It’s about propping up investment & mobilizing revenue from taxes. It’s about job creation and well-toilored spending. We’re too dependent and too fragile!”
