As Ghana prepares for the December general elections to elect a president and parliamentarians, some political actors and parties have started to churn out sweet promises to woo voters to their side.

One among these ‘sugar-coated mouthed’ political parties is the Liberal Party of Ghana which has Mr. Kofi Akpaloo as the presidential candidate.

The party has stated, through its National Chairman, Mr. John Amekeh that successive governments have failed to put the needs of Ghanaian children ahead of them. Therefore, they promise to give a monthly stipend to every child from age one to 18 an amount of GHS200.00 and GHS300.00 for twins.

“The Party intends to pay GH¢200 monthly stipend to every Ghanaian child from age one to 18, while twins will receive GH¢300.00. There have not been any clear policies as a matter of social intervention to promote the welfare of Ghanaian children,” he said.

“As a nation, understanding the needs of children and being able to direct their energies and talents to meaningful ventures is key to enhancing national productivity and economic growth,” he pointed out.

“It is expected that the monthly allowances to the Ghanaian child will enter every home, where a child lives and once the money is paid, the child becomes a very important part of society, not only to the parents and guardians but to the state as well,” he concluded.

The Liberal Party of Ghana has a mantra of using technology to solve Ghana’s problems when the mandate is given to them in 2020. Ghanaians will decide.
