President-elect John Dramani Mahama has urged all political parties and citizens to come together in a united effort to address Ghana’s challenges and lay the foundation for national transformation. Speaking during the 31st all-night service at the Sanctuary of Wind and Fire Assemblies of God in Tamale on December 31, Mahama highlighted the critical role of collaboration and faith in rebuilding the nation.

Addressing a congregation filled with hope and resolve, Mahama called on members of all political groups, including the National Democratic Congress (NDC), New Patriotic Party (NPP), New Force, Movement for Change, Convention People’s Party (CPP), People’s National Congress (PNC), and All People’s Congress (APC), to rise above partisan interests for the greater good.

“It will take everyone—NDC, NPP, New Force, Movement for Change, CPP, PNC, APC—and even those who do not identify with any political party to achieve the Ghana we envision,” he said. “The campaign and election were just the beginning; the real task of nation-building starts now.”

Mahama further emphasized the importance of spiritual renewal in this endeavor, urging Ghanaians to seek divine guidance as they embark on the hard work of restoring the country’s fortunes. Reflecting on Ghana’s current economic and social challenges, he called for a collective commitment to restoring the nation’s pride and potential.

“Our country is in crisis—we all know it,” Mahama admitted. “If we prayed and fasted for peaceful elections, then we must pray and fast even harder for wisdom and strength to rebuild. As my daughter so aptly said, we must strive to make Ghana the Black Star of Africa once again.”

The president-elect also charged his appointees to remain humble and committed to their responsibilities, reminding them that leadership is a call to service.

This call for unity and action comes as Ghana faces significant economic challenges, including rising inflation, youth unemployment, and public debt. Mahama’s message struck a chord with the congregation, many of whom expressed optimism about his inclusive approach to governance.

The event marked a pivotal moment in Mahama’s journey to the presidency, with his remarks setting the tone for a tenure focused on collaboration, faith, and a shared vision for Ghana’s transformation.
