AdubianewsPresident John Dramani Mahama has promised to solve the ongoing power problems in the North East Region. He made the announcement during his “Thank You Tour” on Friday, June 13, assuring residents that the days of unstable electricity will soon be over.
He said he is fully aware of the power challenges people are facing in the area. Many small businesses have been affected, and households are struggling to cope.
“I’m aware of the persistent power fluctuations in the eastern zones of this region. They are crippling small businesses and affecting households,” President Mahama said.
To solve the problem, the President said his government will begin work on upgrading the Pwalugu substation. This upgrade, known as “looping,” will help keep the lights on by creating backup routes for electricity to flow. If one line fails, the power can still reach homes and businesses through another path.
He also spoke about plans to speed up work on the Pwalugu multi-purpose dam. This major project is expected to help in three ways: generate power, control floods, and provide water for farming. The President explained that this will not only solve power issues but also support agriculture and protect lives and property.
In addition, President Mahama said the government will invest in solar power and mini-grids to bring electricity to rural areas that are not connected to the national grid. These smaller systems will help people in remote communities get access to clean, reliable energy.
“I can assure you that very soon your power fluctuation will be a thing of the past,” the President said with confidence, giving residents hope for a better future.
His message was clear: ending power cuts in the North East Region is a top priority, and real action is on the way.
