The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress NDC Johnson Asiedu Nketia has said the will lead the Inter Party Resistance Against New Voters Register to petition the Asantehene Otumfour Osei Tutu II over the compilation of new voters register by the Electoral Commision.

The move according to the General secretary is part of efforts to halt the ECs decision to compire a new voters register.

The decision comes days after the EC called for a new voters’ registers arguing that the current is not good for the 2020 general elections.

Johnson Asiedu Nketia was speaking at the Yempene demonstration by the Inter Party Resistance Against New Voter Register in the Ashanti region.

Dozens   of people thronged the principal streets of Kumasi in support of the ‘Yenpene’ demonstration.

The demonstration, which has rallied members of various opposition parties, marks the second of its kind in a series of demonstrations they have vowed to use to express their displeasure over plans by the Electoral Commission to compile a new Voters Register.

Many of the protesters were seen clad in red, with placards bearing different messages up in the air to send off a strong signal about their displeasure.

Asiedu Nketia however emphasized that, Asantehene has over the years protected the peace and harmony Ghana is enjoying now, hence the need to seek his help since the new voters’ register could plung the nation into chaos.
