NPP members go wild after policeman handcuffs MCE 49

The Deputy Minister for Regional Reorganisation and Development, Hon. Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah averted what would have been a bloodbath as some supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) nearly pounced on a policeman at the home of the Bono East Regional Patron of the party over gross disrespect.

According to Alhaji Musa Asante, the said cop mustered courage and handcuffed the Chairman of the Municipal Security Committee (MUSEC) Hon John Donyina in his presence in heat of an argument over the ongoing voter registration exercise.

The NPP executive alleged that the Parliamentary Candidate for the National Democratic Congress(NDC), Christopher Bayere together with some personnel of the Ghana Police Service ransacked his house because they suspected that he was registering people there.

Baffled by the move, he sought to question the rationale behind their action, demanding to see a court warrant but an infuriated policeman who was said to have led the team refused and nearly engaged in fisticuffs with anyone who tried questioning his authority.

In the heat of the moment, the MCE who stormed the home of the Constituency Chairman was not spared the wrath of the incensed policeman who handcuffed him only to be told that was the head of the security in the area he had manhandled.

A statement from the office of the Chairman said ” Police Officers came to my house yesterday, 3rd July 2020 in the evening, around 4:20 in the company of the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Techiman South, on a false allegation that, I was registering people in my house. I allowed them to look inside the house if there were any registration equipments in the house, and lo and behold, their expectations were not met since they were fed with false information”.

The statement further said ” The NDC Candidate raised a false alarm which has one destination, which is to tarnish the high standing reputation I have built in the society over the years for political expediency. The NDC candidate has made it a habit of raising unnecessary alarms and making unfounded allegations just to create fear and panic in Techiman south constituency, for whatever reasons, best known to him”.

The statement noted that the same allegations were made against the Municipal Chief Executive of the Municipality who a Policeman attempted to handcuff but was resisted.

“This same allegation was earlier levelled against Hon. Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, the NPP parliamentary candidate for Techiman south but after police investigations, it turned out to be false.
