Perez Musik says even pastors admire Shatta Wale, praising his wide reach across audiences, including gospel music lovers.

Gospel artiste Perez Musik has revealed his admiration for dancehall star Shatta Wale, describing him as an artiste whose influence cuts across all audiences, including within the church.

Speaking in an interview with Doreen Avio and Kwame Dadzie on Hitz FM, Perez noted that even some pastors count Shatta Wale among their favorite musicians.

He explained that Shatta Wale’s personality and music connect with people from diverse backgrounds, making him one of the few artistes who appeals to both secular and gospel audiences. Perez admitted that he personally enjoys Shatta Wale’s creativity and energy, saying his music resonates beyond genre boundaries.

Perez Musik also used the opportunity to discuss the difference in market reach between gospel and secular musicians. He noted that while gospel artistes often operate within a niche audience focused on faith-based content, secular musicians have a broader market reach, often influencing fans from all walks of life, including those in religious spaces.

According to him, gospel musicians tend to remain faithful to their core mission of spreading the message of Christ, while secular artistes take advantage of a more flexible market. This, he said, allows them to penetrate every corner of society, including the church, where their songs sometimes find unexpected fans.

Perez Musik’s comments highlight the growing interconnection between gospel and mainstream music, suggesting that appreciation for talent and creativity transcends genre lines. He believes that music, whether gospel or secular, continues to serve as a powerful tool for expression and connection.
