Ghanaians have to learn to emancipate ourselves from mental slavery as Bob Marley once said because we are not going anywhere with this hatred of our own selves and constant glorification of the white man.
In the midst of all this brouhaha over Achimota School refusing to admit two Ghanaian boys for wearing dreadlocks, it has emerged that the school allows foreign students to wear their hair anyhow they like.
Photos of foreign students at Achimota, particularly girls, wearing long and permed hair has gone viral.
The school has strongly maintained that they can’t admit the Rastafarian boys because every student has to wear short hair. The headmistress of the school refused to admit them even after a GES directive that they should admit them, although it later emerged GES themselves had backtracked on their directive.
Yet despite all this insistence that ‘rules are rules’, white kids apparently get the privilege to attend Achimota without having to touch their hair. Talk about mental slavery.
The headmistress of Achimota ought to be ashamed of herself.
