The state’s Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs, Abubakar Dauran, who confirmed the occurrence, said the victims went to the bush in search of firewood when they picked an explosive device and were playing with it, thinking it was a toy. The explosive eventually exploded killing six and leaving the others severely injured.
Dauran said those who sustained injuries were rushed to hospital in Gusau, the state capital for medical attention.
