AdubianewsElectoral Commission Chairperson Jean Mensa is set to appear before Parliament this week to explain the ongoing electoral deadlock in the Ablekuma North Constituency, which has been without a representative since the December 7 general elections.
The deadlock stems from unresolved issues surrounding the collation of results from multiple polling stations. These challenges have left the parliamentary seat vacant for over six months, raising concerns and frustrations among constituents over the prolonged lack of representation.
In response, the Minority Caucus petitioned the Ghana Police Service on June 4, calling for security support to enable a smooth and transparent recollation of the results. Their move seeks to ensure the Electoral Commission can complete the process without interference.
Jean Mensa is expected to appear before Parliament’s Committee of the Whole to provide an update on the situation and outline the Commission’s plans to finalise the collation.
Lawmakers are also expected to push for a clear timeline to conclude the process and officially declare the winning candidate.
