AdubianewsGhana international Thomas Partey has officially started training with Spanish club Villarreal CF ahead of the 2025/26 football season, less than 24 hours after finalising his move.
The 31-year-old midfielder joined Villarreal on a free transfer following his departure from Arsenal FC, where he had spent the past four seasons. Partey signed a one-year contract with the Yellow Submarine, with an option to extend for an additional year, marking a return to Spain after leaving Atletico Madrid in 2020.
“It feels good to be back in Spain. I’m ready to give my all for Villarreal,” Partey said during his unveiling.
Partey’s swift return to training underscores his commitment to regaining top form and playing regular football, especially with the 2026 World Cup qualifiers on the horizon.
Fans of Villarreal are eager to see the experienced Ghanaian strengthen the midfield and bring his Premier League and La Liga experience to bear on the team’s campaign.
Villarreal will kick off their La Liga season later this month, and Partey is expected to play a central role in their midfield setup.
