AdubianewsPopular TikTok content creator Almed has fired back at media personality Mona Gucci, following her controversial comments about the status of TikTokers in the celebrity space.
Mona Gucci Sparks Controversy
In a video shared on social media, Mona Gucci criticized TikTok influencers, claiming they shouldn’t be considered celebrities.
“TikTokers, you are not celebrities… You don’t influence anything or anybody in Ghana,” she stated.
She went further to ridicule their talents, saying:
“Apart from braiding your hair and a man dressing like a girl, what else do you do?”
Mona Gucci also urged TikTokers to stop disrespecting A-list celebrities, listing stars like Jackie Appiah and Nana Ama McBrown as true icons.
Almed’s Strong Response
In a passionate video posted on his official TikTok page, Almed responded directly. He began by challenging the logic behind Mona Gucci’s statements:
“Our low level of understanding blocks us from understanding what direct, indirect, and quoted speeches are. In this era of gross civilization and evolution, an individual has a problem with males braiding their hair? Then this person should return to the times of colonialism.”
Almed questioned her intentions and asked whether she was attempting to shame him:
“What were you trying to do, what were you trying to communicate—were you trying to shame me for being feminine, poor, being a nobody, or braiding my hair? Learn to cross your t’s and dot your i’s.”
He made it clear that he never disrespected any prominent figures in the industry:
“I want to emphatically state that I did not insult Nana Akua Addo or any A-list celebrity. This is something I cannot do. Nana Akua Addo is an icon, and you are not.”
