U.S Embassy in Ghana closes routine operations, cancels ALL Visa appointments over 'scary' Covid cases 1
The United States Embassy in Accra Ghana has announced it will no longer be honouring appointments due to the rising Covid-19 cases in Ghana with reports of new variants spread.

The US Embassy says it regrets the difficulties but had to take the measure in the light of great consideration for the health and safety of its staff in Ghana.

“The ongoing pandemic and current conditions in Ghana have compelled the postponement of some scheduled visa appointments.” The statement said.

“U.S. Embassy Accra regrets the difficulties that the change in appointment date brings and we understand the hardship that these actions have for those hoping to travel soon to the United States. Please understand that these decisions are not taken lightly and it is our sincere hope that we can resume routine operations as soon as conditions allow.” It added.

“In the meantime, we will continue to operate with the greatest consideration for the health of our staff and applicants, and we ask for your patience and understanding.

Ghana’s Covid-19 cases have been on the rise this year with more cases and more deaths than previously recorded. President Akufo-Addo has announced measures to curtail spread but it appears not to be effective. Yesterday, the Ghana Medical Association called on the government to shut down Schools across the country.
