“30% of the people before me know those who dabble in galamsey” were part of the opening remarks of Otumfuo as he called Ghanaians to halt galamsey.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has called for an end to illegal mining stating that the fight should start with the people who had gathered before him.
In a speech delivered at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology during a Regional Consultative Dialogue on Small Scale Mining, the Asantehene, stated that workshops, can not drive away galamsey activities but rather an attitudinal change will.
“If we suppress the truth, we would be having nice works shops like this but it won’t lead us anywhere or end the illegal activity”, the respected King said.

He used the occasion to also warn chiefs who dabble in the act to put an end to it.

According to.him, any chief who is involved in this rot has to bow down his head in shame advising that chiefs are not supposed to dabble in the act.
