Angry and distressed woman appeals to President Mahama after Ridge Hospital bed shortage.

An angry and distressed woman broke down at Ridge Hospital as she called on President John Mahama after being asked to transfer her critically ill husband to Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital due to the lack of beds.

She recounted that she had rushed her husband to the emergency ward on Wednesday but was left waiting for several hours. Despite her desperate pleas, staff later informed her that no beds were available and directed her to take him to Korle-Bu.

Her outburst reflected both anger and frustration, as she questioned why patients in critical need were forced to endure such challenges at major hospitals.

The incident once again highlights Ghana’s persistent “no bed syndrome”, a recurring healthcare crisis that often leaves patients stranded without immediate medical attention.

Health experts and advocacy groups have repeatedly warned that this situation endangers lives and called on authorities to expand hospital capacity and improve emergency response systems.

The woman’s public appeal to President Mahama has reignited calls for urgent solutions to the country’s healthcare infrastructure challenges.
