Independent presidential candidate Alan Kyerematen has been celebrated as the “Second Father” of Ghana’s Volta Region, a title previously attributed to the late former president Jerry John Rawlings. The accolade was bestowed on him by residents during his campaign tour, in recognition of his humility, visionary leadership, and commitment to the region’s development.

Kyerematen, joined by key members of his team including Policy Director Yaw Buabeng Asamoah and Director for Special Duties Hopeson Adorye, received a warm and emotional reception in the region.

Overwhelmed by the title and the enthusiastic support, Kyerematen said: “The love I have received here is beyond what I imagined. To be referred to as your second father is a profound honour, and I promise to repay this trust by delivering a transformational agenda that will uplift this region and the entire country.”

Residents, particularly women and youth, lauded Kyerematen for his practical and inclusive solutions encapsulated in his Great Transformational Plan (GTP). A trader explained: “Our region has waited for a leader who truly understands our potential. Alan Kyerematen’s commitment to agriculture, fishing, and eco-tourism shows he sees us as part of Ghana’s solution, not just a political tool. This is why we call him our second father.”

Kyerematen urged voters to disregard narratives doubting the viability of an independent candidate. He pointed to global examples of independent leaders who achieved remarkable success, citing George Washington (USA), Emmanuel Macron (France), and Patrice Talon (Benin).

He emphasized: “Across the country, Ghanaians are ready for change. The love and support I’ve seen here is the same wherever I go, and it gives me confidence that we will win this election. Ignore the propaganda of the NDC and NPP. They are afraid because they know the people are with me.”

Kyerematen concluded by urging Ghanaians to look beyond party affiliations in the upcoming elections, declaring: “This election is about leadership, not party colours. Together, we can rewrite Ghana’s story.”

The Volta Region’s recognition of Kyerematen as a unifying and development-focused leader could mark a turning point in his campaign as he seeks to redefine Ghana’s political landscape.
