The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has extended warm wishes and heartfelt encouragement to the more than 600,000 students sitting for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) across Ghana.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Wednesday, June 11, the Minister described the occasion as a major milestone in the academic journey of Ghanaian youth.

“Today is a significant moment for over 600,000 students nationwide who are beginning the BECE from June 11 to June 17,” he said.

On behalf of President Mahama and the Ministry of Education, he encouraged candidates to remain focused and resilient throughout the examination period.

He urged them to avoid any form of examination malpractice, trust in their preparation, and believe in their potential to succeed. “Believe in your ability, you’ve prepared for this, and you will succeed through honest efforts,” the Minister stated.

He emphasized that the BECE is more than a test of academic memory. According to him, it reflects the growth, character, and potential of the students. “This examination is not just a test of memory but a reflection of your development, values, and potential for the future,” he added.

Haruna Iddrisu is currently touring the country to monitor preparations by the Ghana Education Service (GES) and various local schools. During his visit to Techiman in the Bono Region, he raised concerns about poor infrastructure, particularly the condition of furniture in schools.

“One of the major concerns I encountered in Babator last night is the poor quality of furniture that students are using even during exams,” he said. “There is an urgent need for the government to respond to the furniture needs of schools.”

He assured the public that the Ministry is taking the issue seriously and will work towards improving basic infrastructure to ensure students have a conducive environment for learning and assessment.

The Minister ended his message by reiterating his full support for the candidates. “Best wishes to all our students. You’ve worked hard for this moment. Trust yourselves and let your knowledge, skills, and confidence shine through. Be confident, you will succeed.”
