The Greater Accra regional office of the Electoral Commission has burnt into ashes by fire, the Commission has announced.

The office located at Sapeiman reportedly caught fire in the early hours of Friday. No casualty has been recorded.

The Commission, however, said the fire destroyed several electoral equipment but will not affect the just compiled voter’s register.

“The Greater Accra Regional Director of the Commission, Mr. Kwame Amoah, informed the Regional Police Commander DCOP Mr. Afful Boakye Yiadom, who was at the scene, that the fire will not affect the recent registration and the upcoming December 2020 elections,” the EC said in a statement.

Ghana goes to the polls on December 7 to elect a President and Parliamentarians.
