Frank Davies Accuses OSP of Misrepresenting Ofori-Atta’s Medical Report

Frank Davies, legal representative for former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, has firmly denied allegations made by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) regarding the absence of a submitted medical report.

According to the OSP, Mr Ofori-Atta had failed to provide documentation justifying his inability to attend scheduled proceedings, a claim made public on 2 June. The office further accused the former minister of demonstrating bad faith.

However, speaking during an interview on Citi FM on Friday, 6 June, Mr Davies challenged the OSP’s assertions, describing them as “completely false.”

“I have said, time without number, that, for the OSP to say that he hasn’t sighted that medical report is a blatant falsehood, and it is unfortunate that he is holding such a public office,” he stated.

He clarified that the relevant medical report was included in documents officially filed in court on 27 May 2025, prior to a hearing that took place on 28 May. According to him, the report was also served directly to the Office of the Special Prosecutor and should not have been missed.

“The processes that were filed in court on May 27, 2025, pursuant to the application that was heard by the court on May 28, the medical report was in the bond that was served on the special prosecutor. Unless he doesn’t read his court processes thoroughly,” he said.

Calling the situation “distressing,” Mr Davies criticized what he viewed as a lack of professionalism from the OSP in handling a matter of such sensitivity. He cautioned against the spread of misinformation and urged public institutions to uphold higher standards of diligence and accountability.

“So, for him to come and say that he hasn’t seen any medical report is a blatant falsehood. And as an officer of the court, I find it distressing,” he added, as he called for accountability from the OSP.

This latest development adds to the growing tension surrounding the ongoing interactions between the former Finance Minister and the Special Prosecutor’s office.
