Government Accused Of Misusing National Security By NPP Deputy General Secretary

Alhaji Haruna Mohammed, Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has strongly condemned the government’s alleged exploitation of national security agencies to target individuals linked to the previous administration.

Speaking on Space FM’s morning show, Haruna expressed serious concern over politically motivated raids and arrests under the pretext of national security operations.

Haruna emphasized that such actions undermine the rule of law and violate fundamental citizens’ rights. “If there is suspicion of wrongdoing, proper legal procedures must be followed, credible evidence presented, and courts allowed to decide.

“Raiding homes without due process is unconstitutional and unacceptable,” he asserted. While reaffirming the NPP’s zero tolerance for corruption and misconduct, he stressed the need for justice, fairness, and adherence to legal standards at all times.

To reassure former government officials, Haruna urged calm and pledged the party’s full legal support for any members who face unfair targeting. He highlighted the party’s commitment to defending its members within the bounds of the law.

Additionally, Haruna reminded listeners of the previous government’s key achievements, particularly the successful implementation of the Free SHS policy, a landmark social intervention that benefited all Ghanaians regardless of political affiliation. “This was leadership prioritizing national interest over partisan politics,” he concluded.
