Mahama Criticizes Akufo-Addo/Bawumia Government for Western Region’s Underdevelopment

Former President and National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, has expressed disappointment with the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration over what he describes as a lack of meaningful development in the Western Region. He accused the government of focusing on slogans rather than delivering tangible improvements.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 monitored by adwoaadubianews.com, Mahama pledged that the next NDC government would prioritize improving the living conditions of farmers and addressing the region’s development challenges.

Mahama sharply criticized the current administration, accusing it of poor governance and mismanagement.

“The hardships we are facing, the rising prices of food, and the lack of development in our communities are due to the criminal supervision of the destruction of our economy by Nana Akufo-Addo and Mahamadu Bawumia,” Mahama wrote.

Speaking about his interaction with the Western Regional House of Chiefs in Sekondi, Mahama highlighted the traditional leaders’ dissatisfaction with the government’s performance over the last eight years.

“The chiefs expressed their frustration about the lack of development in the region. The state of roads in the twin city and other constituencies is appalling, and development has stagnated,” he said.

Mahama assured residents of the Western Region that the NDC’s “Reset Ghana” agenda would bring significant improvements to infrastructure and living conditions.

“This is not the Western Region I’ve been visiting over the years. Our agenda to Reset Ghana toward Building the Ghana We Want will benefit the region and uplift the state of infrastructure here,” he emphasized.

The former president’s remarks come as he continues his campaign to unseat the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming general elections, with a focus on reversing what he calls “years of neglect and mismanagement.”
