Diella TekuIn a bold move to transform Ghana’s sports landscape, National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has committed to constructing sports stadia in all 16 regions of the country if elected. Speaking to a crowd of enthusiastic supporters in the Oti Region, Mahama outlined this ambitious project as part of his broader vision for youth empowerment and regional development.
The former president emphasized that his administration would make sports infrastructure a priority, aiming to provide young athletes across the nation with world-class facilities to nurture their talents. He believes that such an initiative will not only foster a culture of sportsmanship but also spur economic growth at the local level through job creation and improved infrastructure.
“This policy is focused on ensuring that every region has the resources to support the growth of sports. By building a stadium in every region, we are creating opportunities for our youth to develop their skills, while also boosting the local economy. This will help us identify more talent and give our young athletes the tools they need to succeed,” Mahama stated.
The former president added that the plan was not just about sports but also encompassed community development, promising to build a regional police station in every area to enhance security and support local law enforcement. “In the Oti Region, we will build a stadium and a police station, just like we will do in every other region. The NDC is committed to bringing real, visible development to every part of Ghana,” Mahama asserted.
The proposal has been met with excitement, as many believe that the development of sports infrastructure will not only elevate Ghana’s athletic potential but also offer long-term social and economic benefits to communities across the country. Mahama’s pledge aligns with his party’s ongoing focus on creating opportunities for youth and fostering regional equity.
As Ghana approaches the election, Mahama’s promise to prioritize sports infrastructure is a clear signal of the NDC’s dedication to driving inclusive development and investing in the future of the nation’s youth.
