Two suspected armed robbers were mercilessly beaten and burnt alive by angry residents in Benin City Edo State.
Reports have it that the incident occurred near Okay Market, Ighodefeyi Road, Sakponba area of the city on Tuesday, November 3.
Graphic photos and videos of the incident is currently making rounds all over social media.
It is alleged that the suspects were robbing market women and commuters who were going about their different businesses.
An anonymous witness said;
“They came out early in the morning and they were robbing market women going to the market and other early risers going to their workplaces. There have been regular cases of a robbery around Sakponba Road here because the three police stations along this road namely St Saviour, Ugbegun and Idogbo have been burnt and destroyed. There is no single presence of police post or any other security agency here,”
The incident was also reported by the Edo Citizens Forum on Facebook. As of the time of filing this report, the right authorities are yet to comment on the incident.
