AdubianewsSpeaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has appealed for calm in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba (STK) district following reports of gunfire and displacement in some communities.
In a Facebook post, Mr. Bagbin described the situation as “deeply concerning” and urged residents to remain calm and composed. He reminded the people of the district of their longstanding reputation for peace and harmony, stressing the importance of preserving that identity.
“Without doubt, the STK district has always been revered for its harmony and peaceful nature, and it is crucial that we preserve this reputation,” he said.
The Speaker also commended youth groups that have already issued statements discouraging violence and inflammatory rhetoric. He echoed their call for unity, dialogue, and peaceful coexistence to remain central to resolving the unrest.
Mr. Bagbin further encouraged residents to exercise restraint and work closely with security agencies tasked with restoring stability. He also appealed to traditional leaders and opinion influencers within the community to play an active role in fostering reconciliation.
“Let us prioritise peace and stability, ensuring STK remains a haven for its residents,” the Speaker urged, adding the hashtag #PeaceBeUntoSTK.
