Nigerian Afrobeat musician, Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, well known as Mayorkun, has eulogized his idol, Davido, for the positive impact he brought into his life through music.

Speaking in an interview with Doreen Avio on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz show, Mayorkun stated that Davido changed the trajectory of his life, and for that, he is extremely grateful for his encounter with him.

The story of Davido and Mayorkun’s artistic partnership is one of inspiring friendship, cooperation, and mentoring. A version of Davido’s song “The Money” was shared on social media by Mayorkun, whom Davido discovered in 2016.

Davido noticed the musician’s abilities and signed him to his firm, Davido Music Worldwide (DMW), which launched Mayorkun’s career as a professional musician.

Davido helped Mayorkun release his first single, “Eleko,” which became a huge hit and paved the way for his subsequent success. They worked together on more than just music; for around three years, Mayorkun lived with Davido, learning a lot about the business and honing his skills.

Their bond endures even after Mayorkun left DMW in 2021. Mayorkun has made it clear in public that their bond goes beyond business, highlighting their shared kinship.

According to him, the absence of public exchanges does not signify a schism but rather a shared understanding that does not require continual internet presentations.

A connection based on trust, common experiences, and a profound appreciation for one another’s contributions to their different careers is demonstrated by their ongoing respect and encouragement of one another.
