Davido revealed this in an interview with media personality, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on Bounce Radio.
The Afrobeat star said the song made him rediscover his mainstream relevance.
He also suggested if he had continued to be in the doldrums for long without a hit song, he had no idea what would have become of him.
He further chipped in saying his industry colleague and best friend knew he has a clean heart which is why he made him jump on the song which became a banger across Africa and beyond.
Davido said; “Till date I am still grateful to Tekno. Tekno brought me back, I didn’t have a hit for almost a year. Tekno wrote the song “IF” and he wanted me to record the song. He wanted me to do it because I am a good guy”.
