Elderly man shares story of being scammed by Nana Agradaa

A 69-year-old man has come forward claiming he also fell victim to the infamous Nana Agradaa sika gari scam, which recently landed the self-styled evangelist a 15-year prison sentence.

According to the man, he sold his car and raised GHS7,000, hoping to double the money through Agradaa’s spiritual money-doubling promise. He said he was initially optimistic and planned to invest the doubled cash into a profitable venture since he was going to retire from his job soon. However, after handing over the money, Agradaa allegedly demanded more, claiming the amount wasn’t enough for the supposed ritual.

Desperate to meet her demands, the man said he rented out his room to raise extra funds. Instead of receiving the promised fortune, he was only given a lottery number to stake, which never yielded any results.

He explained that all attempts to contact Nana Agradaa afterward failed, as her phone number stopped going through.

The case has drawn more attention in light of Agradaa’s recent conviction, with many victims now gaining the courage to share their experiences with the widely condemned money-doubling scheme.
